Review | Silk Naturals Highlight Powder in "Sunny"

Silk Naturals Highlight Powder in "Sunny"

If you saw my latest Haul, I picked up quite a few products from Silk Naturals, including this Highlight Powder in "Sunny". This powder retails for $4.50 (0.75 tsp) and is available exclusively through the Silk Naturals Website

Silk Naturals touts this shade as being a dupe for the new Anastasia Glow Palette shade in "Sunburst". This item is vegan, and cruelty free.

Let's get in to the review!

Silk Naturals Highlight Powder in "Sunny"

Silk Naturals claims:

"Sunny is a very pale golden highlight with a hint of golden pearl. You can use it on your eyes, lips- and it's especially wonderful on your cheeks.  It's easy to wear, and just adds that little bit of a special glow.

Dare to compare this with Anastasia Beverly HillsSunburst from the That Glow Kit. It's every bit as gorgeous, but made without silicones, binders, or preservatives."

Product

This highlight powder comes packaged in a plastic jar with a sifter. The powder is loose, so it's not ideal for travel. Personally, I prefer a pressed powder.

The first thing I noticed when it arrived was how SMALL the jar was! You get very little product, but for $4.50, it's not a deal breaker. They say you will receive 3/4 teaspoon in the jar. The sifter made it difficult to get the product out of the jar.

"Sunny" is a light pale yellow gold with a shimmer finish. The color is sheer with one pass of the product, however, you can build up the color to be more intense when apply more layers. The color and effect reminded me very much of the Pur Minerals Afterglow Illuminating Powder.

I did not find this to be patchy or distribute unevenly across the skin. It did not emphasize my pores, and uneven texture on the skin.

This color would best suite those with neutral to yellow undertones, and those with fair to dark skin tones. If you are the fairest of fair or the deepest of deep, you can skip out on this shade.

"Sunny" Applied to the Cheekbones

Performance

Despite that the powder contains no binders, it was very easy to apply with a finger and with a dense powder brush to apply on top of my cheekbones. I had to reapply the color several times in order to achieve the dramatic highlight I prefer.

"Sunny" wore well for 6 hours, after about 8 hours the color and finish started to fade and break down. If you have dry skin, the wear time might be longer for you.

If you prefer a longer wear time, consider pairing this with a cream highlighter such as the Tata Harper Very Illuminating Cheek Tint or the BECCA Poured Shimmering Skin Perfector.

Mica, Boron Nitride, Silica Also contains : Iron Oxides, Tin Oxide

Overall

This highlight powder is a beautiful pale gold shade that is perfect for my fair skin tone. The color applies nicely to the skin without being patchy or uneven. I do wish the color was more pigmented so I didn't have to keep reaching for more product to build up the intensity. However, if you like a more subtle highlight, you will love this. I hope Silk Naturals comes out with a pressed version, otherwise I'm not sure if I will re-purchase.
