Review: Jane Iredale Lip Liner in "Pink"

Jane Iredale Lip Pencil

Natural lip liners can be hard to come by, and too often the shade range isn't extensive. However, the Jane Iredale Lip Pencils offer a large selection of creamy, pigmented, and colorful lip liners! These retail for $13 ( oz) and are available in-store at select Salons, the Nordstrom Website, Citrine Natural Beauty Bar, and the Jane Iredale Website.

If I end up liking the formula, I may just order a few more colors!

Let's get in to the review!

Jane Iredale claims:

"Our Lip Pencils are soft enough to fill in your lips easily but durable enough to provide a long-lasting base to the color you layer over them."

These pencils are the standard wood pencil that require sharpening. It is available in 12 shades, from neutrals to deep reds and purples.

I purchased the shade "Pink". The color is a slightly warm toned medium pink.

The finish is hard to describe. It is not a flat matte, nor is there any glitter or shimmer. I'd say its between a pearl and metallic finish. It reminds me of the 90s, and not in a good way.

This shade would suit most skin tones, however if you have more golden undertones, go for a slightly more rose toned pinked.

The product.

The actual liner is slightly creamy, not as a creamy as the Urban Decay Lip Liners, and when swatched, the color needs to be built up with a few swipes. It does take a little bit of work to fill in your lips during application.

The formula is not particularly hydrating, nor is it particularly drying. It reminds me of the NYX Slim Lip Pencils, but slightly dryer in texture.

If you have normal lips, no dry patches, you should have no problem with the application. But if you do have dry or chapped lips, this pencil may tug on your lips and won't be as creamy as you need.

It feels very light on the lips. If you don't like the feel of anything on your lips, you'll love this. Particularly if you layer it underneath a lipstick, it does not create any added texture or cause the lips to look crepey or heavy.

Longevity.

This particular shade lasted about 3 hours with light eating and drinking before I noticed slight fading on the center of my lips.

Underneath a lipstick, it does help your lipstick look fresh and last a few hours longer than without the lip liner.

This is the type of color that goes well under any color lipstick, and that you can wear on it's own for a natural look. This color of pink isn't too light or too bright and will not wash out your face. It gives your lips a healthy color and definition.

The Jane Iredale Lip Pencils are formulated without synthetic dyes, parabens, phthalates, fragrances, or other harmful ingredients!

Overall, the texture could be creamier for the application to be smoother and so it could be an option for those with dry lips. This particular color is not my favorite, only because of the finish. It's not flattering and I just do not care for it. The longevity is on par with other lipsticks I own, and it does really help your lipstick stay on longer throughout the day. And for those looking for a natural lip liner in a variety of shades, for only $13, I will be picking up a few more shades! I like the formula, just hate the color.
