Review: Burt's Bees Lipstick in "Juniper Water"

Burt's Bees Lipstick in "Juniper Water"

Burt's Bees has launched their new line of lipsticks! Available in 14 shades, these lipsticks are meant to provide intense color and be moisturizing to the lips, all the while still being 100% natural. These lipsticks retail for $8.99 (0.12 oz) and are available online and in-store at Ulta, Target, Walgreens, and the Burt's Bees Website

I picked up two shades, first up is "Juniper Water".

Let's get in to the review!

Burt's Bees claims these lipsticks:

"Intense color meets conditioning 8-hour moisture. Full-coverage, vibrant color in 14 shades made with 100% naturally moisturizing ingredients like moringa and raspberry seed oils to help soften and condition your lips all day long."

Packaging.

The lipsticks come cased in a sturdy plastic brown square tube with a honeycomb design along the sides. Great for storage and travel.

Unlike typical Burt's Bees lip products, these lipsticks do not have a mint taste or feeling to the lips. They have a slight sweet scent, but it does not linger on the lips.

Formula.

I really love the formula of these lipsticks. It glides onto the lips easier and smoother than any other lipstick I've ever tried. It doesn't emphasize any lines or dry patches on the lips.

The lipsticks are a sheer but buildable formula with a natural shine finish. The sheer formulation can be built up to achieve a mostly opaque look. If you've tried the Milani Lipsticks or the Essence Longlasting Lipsticks, their formulas are very similar.

The color.

Juniper Water is a dark cool toned berry. The color is a light berry when applied lightly on the lips but can be built up to a true dark berry when applied with several swipes.

This shade would suit every skin tone, and because of it's versatility, you can wear it for day and night time, depending on how dramatic you'd like your lips to be.

While the color is sheer, it does have slight patchiness when it's applied dramatically. It seems to have less patchiness when applied over a lip liner.

Longevity.

When applied by itself, I found that it wore well for about 4 hours before needing a touch up. The funny thing about this shade is that the intensity and darkness of the initial application wears down and you're left with a light berry stained looking lip, which looks beautiful.

I found that with a lip liner underneath, it wore well for about 4 hours as well. It does wear down towards the center of the lip first, but if you rub your lips together, the color becomes even again. It wears down beautifully on the lips without looking patchy or gross.

Overall, this lipstick formula is extremely comfortable, particularly for the winter time, and this color in particular wear beautifully throughout the day. The longevity isn't great, but for those that like a more natural looking lipstick, you'll absolutely love this one! If you are looking for a hydrating lipstick formula, try these out, and "Juniper Water" will not disappoint for Fall and Winter!
