REVIEW | Lily Lolo Natural Mascara

Lily Lolo formulates their products without GMO's, nano particles, talc, additives, harsh chemicals, parabens, gluten, and bismuth oxychloride, dyes, fillers, fragrance, preservatives, and petroleum based chemicals.

This mascara is Cruelty-Free and Vegan.

Packaging

The mascara is packaged a white plastic tube. So far no issues with the packaging malfunctioning or being faulty. 

The mascara wand is a standard natural bristle brush. The bristles are evenly spaced and of equal length around the wand. 

I do have one gripe about the packaging that I will discuss below.

Product

The Natural Mascara is available in one shade, "Black". The formula is inky black in color and is not waterproof.

The formula is on the wet side and has a thick consistency. It is similar to the Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara and the L'Oreal Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara.

The mascara does not have any discernible scent or smell.

Performance

I agree with the claims that this mascara will lengthen and volumize to provide a dramatic effect. I find that my short stubby lashes look longer and thicker upon two coats of this mascara.

However---and this is where the packaging is partly at fault---the mascara builds up on the wand bristles and can cause the mascara to become clumpy and flaky when applied to the eyelashes. 

To prevent the clumping and the flaking throughout the day, I simply wipe the excess mascara off of the bristles before applying it to my eyelashes. The mascara dries quickly, so I would recommend this for pairing with false lashes.

Since I started using that method, I have experience very little to zero flaking, clumping, or transferring of the mascara on day to day wear. I find that even after a 12 hour day, my mascara is still in place and isn't all over my face.


The formula holds a curl well and does not irritate the eyes!

The formula is quite buildable---so if you like a more dramatic lash, you can layer the mascara multiple times. But be aware that the more layers you apply, the higher the chance for flaking.

Overall

The Lily Lolo Natural Mascara has an excellent formula that provides excellent length and volume without leaving your lashes looking clumpy (with using my technique mentioned above) or smudging throughout the day. I would recommend this mascara to anyone who likes full and feminine looking lashes! The only negative is the excess amount of product on the wand that can tend to make the formula clump.
