Review: It Cosmetics Your Lips But Better Waterproof Lip Liner Stain

I finally ventured into the world of lip liners! I know, I'm late to the party. I purchased the It Cosmetics YLBB Waterproof Lip Liner Stain from Ulta during 5x points on It Cosmetics. These lip liners retail for $20 (0.017 oz) in-store and online at Ulta.
So does this lip liner live up to it's many claims? Is it worth the $20 price tag? Let's get in to the review!
There are 7 shades available. I picked up the shade "Pretty In Pink", a medium neutral toned pink, perfect underneath every color of lipstick. Except for those concealer light nudes!
This color matched my natural lip color perfectly! A, "My Lips But Better" color.

The liner itself is a retractable pencil. Perfect for throwing in your purse or traveling, no need to sharpen! The outer pencil is a sturdy black plastic with a cap. The only down side, you do get less product than a sharpen-able pencil.

It Cosmetics claims this lip liner is:
"a hydrating primer, and long-wear stain that doesn't dry out lips and keeps your favorite lip product in place."
As far as the formula, it does glide very easily onto the lips. It's not as creamy as the Urban Decay Lip Liners, but not drying either.
The formula dries down to a matte finish and does not transfer. If you use this alone, without a lipstick on top, the color lasts about 4 hours before starting to fade in the center of the lips. It's not an intense pop of color. Underneath a lipstick, I noticed how well this makes any lipstick last longer than without.
The only way I would describe the way this transforms a lipstick is a "velvet matte". This lip liner turns the finish of any lipstick into more of a matte velvet texture and finish. I noticed at least 6 hours of wear from my lipsticks with this underneath.
As far as being waterproof, yes, for the most part. If you're drinking liquids it will stay put. However, if you're going to be eating, the color does disappear in the center of your lips.
As far being a hydrating primer, I wouldn't say it's particularly hydrating. If you have cracked or dry lips, I would say try something with less of a dry matte finish. Though it certainly doesn't dry out your lips.
If you have mature lips, or a lot of fine lines, skip out on this. The dry formula will only emphasize the fine lines. Go for a creamier lip liner option.
Overall, this lip liner is great for prolonging the wear of your lipsticks, easy to use, and the colors blend in nicely with out natural lip colors. The downside, not a huge color selection, and the formulation is a flat velvet matte, which is not great for everyone. But it is paraben-free and cruelty free! If you have long days and need your lip color to last, pick this up!
NEED IT!
