Review: Honest Beauty Luminizing Face Powder in "Dusk Reflection"

Honest Beauty Luminizing Face Powder

Honest Beauty is one of the newest green beauty brands to launch in the past year that aims to provide high quality non-toxic beauty products at an affordable price.

I picked up the Honest Beauty Luminizing Powder in "Dusk Reflection", while classified as a subtle powder highlight for the face, it can also be used as a bronzer, which is how I use it. This retails for $25 (0.35 oz) and is available on the Honest Beauty Website.

Let' get in to the review!

Honest Beauty claims this powder as a:

"Silky, baked face powder gives your skin an instant, healthy-looking glow. Lightweight texture and subtle shimmer create more even-looking skin tone in one sweep. Talc-free."

The powder is available in 3 shades, "Dusk Reflection" being the darkest. On fair to light skin tones this shade works perfectly as a bronzer, and works as a subtle face illuminator for medium to deep skin tones.

The packaging is a sturdy plastic metallic compact with a mirror. Perfect for travel or on-the-go, no need to worry about it breaking in a purse or luggage.

The color is a medium pink toned brown with a sheen. There is no heavy or intense glitter or shimmer. This color is definitely for bronzing up the skin and adding subtle definition to the face, not for contouring.

The powder isn't too soft or kick up a lot of power when you pick up the product with a brush. The color isn't patchy, streaky, or leave harsh lines. The powder sits and blends well on the skin, it doesn't cling to dry patches or look heavy.

A little goes a long way, so a couple swipes of the product is all you need!

My favorite way to apply this powder is with the Real Techniques Multi-Tasker Brush and apply it to the temples around my forehead and blend down the jaw and around the ears. It looks natural, and the color doesn't look harsh against my fair skin.

Unlike many blush and bronzers that seem to fade off throughout the day, this powder lasts on my face until I decide to take it off and doesn't become splotchy or fade as the day goes on. I have 12 + hours of wear time.

Mica, Silica, Zea Mays (Corn) Starch, Squalane, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Caprylyl Glycol, Lauroyl Lysine, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Tocopherol, Hectorite, Sodium Dehydroacetate. May Contain +/-: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491/77492/77499)

Overall, this power is excellent quality, it blends into the skin beautifully, and the color is multi-purpose depending on your skin tone. The ingredients are non-toxic, and it does not cause any breakouts or irritation to my face.
