Review: Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette
Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette |
My local Target is revamping their natural beauty section, so I scored this Pacifica Power of Love Eyeshadow Palette for only $5.98! This retails for $19.99 and is available online and in-store at Target and the Pacifica Website.
An affordable natural and vegan eyeshadow palette, yes! But how do the eyeshadows compare to say, Urban Decay, LORAC?
Let's get in to the review!
Pacifica claims:
"Power of Love Eye Shadow Palette includes 10, velvety rich, long lasting, creaseless, mineral eye shadows infused with coconut water to create a soft, cream-like finish. 100% vegan & cruelty-free!"
The palette is your standard cardboard packaging. It is small and thin in size, so it's perfect for storage and travel.
There is a good variety of shades, however, I wish they would have included a dark matte brown to complete the palette. I just feel like I'm missing one more good neutral brown.
There are 10 eyeshadow shades:
Dark Burgundy (Satin)
Light Pink Ivory (Satin)
Dark Olive Green (Shimmer)
Medium Aqua Blue with Gold Glitter
Medium Cool Beige (Matte)
Yellow Toned Ivory (Satin)
Bronze (Metallic)
Mauve Taupe (Metallic)
Light Peachy Pink (Shimmer)
Dark Navy Blue (Satin)

The Formula.
The majority of the eyeshadows in this palette have a soft and creamy texture. They were easy to apply, easy to blend, and had excellent pigmentation.
However, the softer shades of this palette were often too powdery, and would be difficult to stick to the skin even with a primer underneath. This is apparent with the mauve taupe shade.
Best Performing Shades:
The best performing shades were the matte light brown, the mauve taupe, the bronze, and the light peachy pink. They all had excellent pigmentation, their texture was soft and blendable, they performed similarly to the LORAC PRO eyeshadows.
Worst Performing Shades:
Three of the eyeshadows were patchy, very dry and thin in texture, and were pressed so hard into the pan it was difficult to pick up product. The medium aqua blue and the dark navy blue were the worst performers, as you can see from the swatches. The shimmery yellow toned ivory had a thicker texture, but the color was sheer and needed to be built up with several layers.
When I applied these eyeshadows to my eyelids I noticed how muted the colors appeared. Despite how pigmented they are, they appear less dimensional and vibrant when applied to the eyelids. The colors looked kind of muddy on the eyes, in my opinion.
I prefer for intensely pigmented shadows and contrast between the shades. However, if you are a beginner or prefer shadows that are less intense on the eyes, you may like this formula.
To achieve a more pigmented look, I highly recommend priming your eyelid first, then applying a colored cream base, and then the eyeshadow on top.

Longevity.
Worn with a primer underneath, the shadows stayed in place without creasing or fading for a solid 10 hours. After 10 hours, the colors started to fade around the edges and began to crease.
When these shadows are worn without a primer, they do not show up as pigmented on the eyes and they crease within a few hours, keep in mind I do have oily eyelids.

Overall.
These eyeshadows are about 50/50 in terms of quality, some were excellent, some were terrible. You do get an excellent color variety, and if you're a fan of color, you'll like this palette. It 's a great beginner palette for anyone just starting out with makeup or starting their green beauty collection. It's not my favorite formula of powder eyeshadow, but it's not terrible either. So if you can find this on clearance, I say go for it, but for the full $19.99 price tag, I'd say skip it.
