Review: Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

Acure Brightening Facial Scrub

On a recent shopping trip out of town, I finally came across the travel size of the Acure Brightening Facial Scrub at Target. The full size retails for $9.99 (4 fl oz) and is available in-store and online at Target and the Acure Website.

I have been an absolute skincare junkie lately, and being that I have very acne prone skin, I'm always looking for new products to help rid my skin of excess buildup.

All Acure Organics products are "free from animal testing, parabens, sulfates, phthalates, synthetic fragrances, harmful preservatives and artificial colors."

Let's get in to the review!

Acure claims:

"...“Seas” the day with natural exfoliation from the ocean! Organic sea kelp and lemon peel gently exfoliate your skin while French green clay removes impurities from your pores without taking your natural moisture with it. Organic chlorella growth factor and argan stem cells and Madonna lily stem cells help brighten. It’s a deep cleansing, brightening experience...."

This facial scrub comes packaged in a sturdy plastic squeeze tube. The size I have, and seen in these pictures, is the travel size, not the full size.

The actual product is a dark green color with physical scrub exfoliators, which are clearly visible in the product and when you massage it into the skin.

One of the first things I noticed about the product is the scent. It has a very strong natural and herbal scent to it. It's not an artificial scent, so if your skin is sensitive to fragrance, this won't bother your skin. However, if you're personally turned off by strong scents, you may not like this.

The scrub itself is quite abrasive. It doesn't scratch the skin, but it does feel very harsh on the skin. So if you're skin is sensitive to abrasion, I wouldn't recommend this.

Despite being an abrasive scrub, my skin doesn't feel overly sensitive afterwards, and unlike chemical peels that can leave your skin looking red and irritated, this scrub does not.

I prefer to use this product after cleansing my face, and applying about a dime size amount of product onto my fingers, and then massing it into my skin.

After using this product a few times, I saw less buildup around my acne, so when I applied makeup over the pimple, there was no dead skin that was flaking off. I also noticed a big improvement in my skin's texture, it immediately feels smoother, and gives my skin that natural glow that makes it look and feel healthier.

Because of the physical grains of sea kelp and lemon in the formula, I highly recommend using a washcloth to remove this product from the face, otherwise some of the sea kelp can remain inside your pores.

Organic Curoxidant Blend [(Organic Euterpe Oleracea (Acai) Berry, Organic Rubus Fruticosus (Blackberry), Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehips), Organic Punica Granatum (Pomegranate), Fair Trade Organic Aspalathus Linearis (Rooibos)], Organic Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), Organic Matricaria Recutita (Chamomile), Organic Aloe Barbensis (Aloe Vera) Leaf Juice, Vegetable Glycerin, French Green Clay, Organic Lemon Peel Granules, Saponified Organic Cocos Nucifera (Coconut Oil), Cellulose Gum (Vegetable), Organic Olea Europaea (Olive Oil), Organic Ascophyllum Nodosum (Sea Kelp), Theobromo Cacao (Cocoa) Powder, Organic Chlorella Pyrenoidosa (Chlorella Growth Factor), Chlorophyll, Glucono Delta Lactone (Fermented Sugar), Carageenan, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Stem Cells, Organic Argania Spinosa (Argan) Oil, Potassium Sorbate (Food Grade Preservative), Lilium Candidum Leaf Cell Extract, Essential Oil Blend of Salvia Officinalis (Sage) and Mentha spicata (Spearmint).

This scrub is the perfect amount of abrasion and cleansing. It leaves the skin feeling renewed and clean! Plus the ingredients are clean and non-toxic! I highly recommend this for all skin types, excluding sensitive, who are looking for a detoxifying and clarifying scrub to rid the skin of impurities and dry skin.
