REVIEW | Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow in "Porcelain"

Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow

Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Eye Shadows are a unique find in the Green Beauty Community. They are a pressed pan refill. Each pan retails for $8.99 (0.045 oz) and are available on the Ulta Website and the Honeybee Gardens Website.

I have two shades already in my collection, Canterbury and Daredevil, and they have been my go-to shades for my eye-looks. I found a good deal on the singles through Ebay, so I decided to pick up the shade "Porcelain".

Let's get in to the review!

Honeybee Gardens claims:

"Honeybee Gardens Pressed Mineral Eye Shadow Singles help you mix and match in stylish eco-friendly compact (sold separately). There are 14 popular mattes, neutrals and fashion forward shades. Vegan, Gluten Free, Paraben Free. Highly pigmented powder. Applies evenly, blends well,  crease-proof, soft-textured look that lasts all day. Free of petroleum-based oils, alcohol, talc, fillers, fragrances, preservatives and chemical dyes; enriched with botanicals and vitamins."

Packaging

The Eye Shadows are very eco conscious. They are single shadow pan refills, similar to MAC or Anastasia. There are 14 shades available

I store my individual pan eyeshadows in a Z-Palette. This method is great for storage, and I love having all of my eyeshadows stored in one area. The minimalist inside me is thrilled!

Product

The eyeshadow is a pressed formula. I prefer this form of eyeshadow over loose, it's easier to apply and less messy. Pressed eyeshadow singles are hard to come by in the Green Beauty Community, so this formula and packaging is a treat.

This particular shade was pressed somewhat hard into the pan, it made trying to pick up product a little bit more difficult.

"Porcelain" is a cool-toned light pastel pink. It is one of the lightest shades available in the range. This color would be perfect as an allover lid shade or brow bone highlight for those with fair to light skin tones.

The finish is a flat matte. There is no hint of a sheen or sparkle to the color.

The consistency of the powder is powdery. It kicks up a bit of powder when you put a brush to it. Similar to LORAC Eyeshadows, but less soft of a texture. The consistency reminds me very much of the Red Apple Lipstick Eye Shadows, but unlike Red Apple, this lighter shade applies with more color intensity and does not fade or crease as easily throughout the day.

Performance

When applied over an eyeshadow primer, in this case the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I saw good wear time of 8 hours before the shade started to crease.

When applied over the Too Faced Shadow Insurance and a cream shadow base, I saw even better longevity, about 10 hours before creasing and minor fading.

The shadow applied very easily with a flat stiff brush. I was able to build up the color to reach complete opacity, and it blended well with other shades.

Overall

I am so glad I picked up this shade. It's the ideal for lid color for those of us with fair complexions who want their eyelids to pop without the look of glitter or sparkle. While powder is slightly powdery, it applies nicely to the eyes and is easy to pair with other eyeshadow formulas without looking patchy or streaky. I do wish the formula was softer, but for the price and the excellent ingredients, I don't mind.
