REVIEW | Alima Pure Highlighter in "Lumina"

The Alima Pure Highlighter is one of the cleanest highlighter formulas on the market. Available in 4 shades, the shade I have here is "Lumina". The Highlighters retail for $24 (0.11 oz) and are available on the Alima Pure Website and The Detox Market.

Alima Pure is Cruelty-Free, and formulated without parabens, sulfates, synthetic dyes, phthalates, dimethicone, petroleum, talc, bismuth oxychloride, and nanoparticles. The Highlighters are also Vegan.

Let's get in to the review!

Alima Pure claims:

An illuminating loose mineral powder that brightens and accentuates the complexion.
Our Highlighter imparts a healthy natural glow. Wear it on the cheekbones, bridge of the nose, eyes, and shoulders.

Packaging

As I have a sample size, I do not have the full size packaging to judge. The full size comes in a plastic tub with a sifter to dispense the product.

I have seen and held the packaging in-person, it is a little bulky, but not cheap and stores easily. The size is not ideal for travel.

Lumina

Product

Available in 4 shades, the Highlighter is a loose powder formula. The consistency is light and slightly powdery. There is no scent or smell.

"Lumina" is a light pinky beige with a slight cool undertone and pearl finish. The color is very similar  to the Silk Naturals Highlight Powder in "Fluff", but more cool toned, less shimmer and less reflect.

This color would be suit those with a fair to light complexion with a cool undertone. The color did not flatter my complexion and looked slightly grey and ashy. So I would not recommend this color if you have a warm complexion.

Performance

This product is best applied with a stiff and dense brush and to tap off the excess powder prior to application. It required several layers to build up the color and intensity to my desired look.

The powder did not emphasize texture, pores, or fine lines. The finish offered a slight glow to the cheeks. It wore well for 8 hours before starting to fade. On oily skin, I find that wear-time to be excellent.

It wore well with my foundations and other powder products, and did not break apart any products already on my face.

Ingredients:

Mica (CI 77019). May contain: Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Overall

The Highlighters offer a beautiful finish to the skin without emphasizing texture and wears well throughout the day. However, the consistency is slightly powdery and can get a little messy upon application. If you enjoy a more natural looking highlight, less shimmer and reflect, you will enjoy this formula. "Lumina" is for the fair and cool complexions, check out the other shades if you have a warm or deeper undertone. While it is not my personal favorite formula---I prefer a more dramatic highlight---this formula is still an excellent option!
