REVIEW | Johnny Concert Pro Amplified Eyeshadow Refill in "Coffee or Die"

If you haven't heard of Johnny Concert Glamour, well you have now! I found this brand as I was scrolling through Instagram and saw their bold eye looks and their swatches that reminded me of MAKE UP FOR EVER or Morphe. 

I would describe Johnny Concert as being the Non-Toxic version of Urban Decay, edgy but without the questionable ingredients. JC is formulated with natural based ingredients and is always Cruelty-Free and Vegan.

The Pro Amplified Eyeshadow Refills retail for $10 (0.05 oz) and are available on the Johnny Concert Website.

     Packaging     

The refill compacts do not come with outer packaging, so they're meant to be stored in a refillable palette (z-palette, MAC palette, etc). As a minimalist, I enjoy the refill style, and I appreciate using less plastic.


A plastic compact version is available for $13.

     Product     

The Amplified Eyeshadows are a pressed powder formula. They do not have any discernible scent or fragrance.


"Coffee or Die" is a deep brown with red and gold shimmer and metallic finish. It is darker and more brown than MAC "Woodwinked".


This color would be flattering on all skin tones and all eye colors, particularly those with green eyes.

     Performance     

This shade was not pressed too firmly into the pan, so it was easy to pick up product with a brush. The color has fully opaque high pigmentation. The formula reminds me of the LORAC Pro Eyeshadow, but with less fallout.


When applied to the eyelid over a primer, the color maintained its pigmentation and was not streaky, patchy, or difficult to blend out. Unlike many clean eyeshadow formulas I have tried, this color was able to build on itself and increase the intensity of the color.


The color paired well with other finish and formulas of eyeshadows. It wore well with a primer for 8 hours before starting to crease.


There was minimal fallout when applied with a semi dense brush.

     Overall     

"Coffee or Die" has an amazing formula; it has excellent pigmentation but blends easily. The formula is not overly powdery or flakey and there was little to zero fallout. The formula wears well all day and I think this color in particular would love gorgeous on all skin tones. If you're in the market for highly pigmented eyeshadow colors with clean ingredients, give Johnny Concert a try!
