REVIEW | Pacifica Stellar Gaze Mascara

The Pacifica Beauty Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mineral Mascara ($14, 0.25 oz)---major mouthful---is one of the more affordable Cruelty-Free and Vegan available at mass retailers including Ulta, Target, and Whole Foods.

Pacifica cosmetics are formulated without animal testing, animal ingredients, phthalates, parabens, sulfates, propylene glycol, mineral oil, petroleum, peanut oil, and triclosan.

Let's get in to the review!

     Pacifica claims

You will fall in love with Pacifica's long lasting, nourishing, natural mineral mascara, Stellar Gaze Length & Strength Mascara. This amazing formula is infused with coconut oil and vitamin B to hydrate each lash as it lengthens, strengthens and adds volume. Apply for a natural look by day, or layer for more volume with the super plush 100% vegan brush that provides effortless coverage.

     Packaging

The Stellar Gaze Mascara is packaged in a small light-weight plastic tube with blue and gold detailing along the tube. Great for storage and travel.

The mascara wand is cylindrical in shape with the end of the wand tapering in. The natural bristles are evenly spaced around the wand in a circular pattern. The shape reminds me of the Dior Diorshow Mascara.

     Product

The Stellar Gaze Mascara is available in 2 shades; Supernova (Black) and Stardust (Brown).

For this review, I have the shade Supernova. The mascara has a faint scent of sunscreen. It is not noticeable or irritating once on the eyes.

The formula is on the wet side, so it's more prone to clumping when you apply more than one layer.

     Performance

For reference, I have very short and stubby lashes.

The mascara was easy to apply to both the inner and outer corners of my top lashes. Because of the size of the mascara wand, I would be hesitant to apply this mascara to the lower lashes.

I was able to build up the length of my lashes with this mascara after applying 2 to 3 coats. I was not able to achieve any volume or thickness to my lashes.

This mascara provides a nice delicate and soft look to the lashes, similar to the effect of the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara, all length, no volume or thickness. It did not flake or smudge throughout the day, but it is not water resistant or waterproof so it will smudge when it comes in contact with water. It also did not transfer to my upper eyelids throughout the day.

Compared to the Pacifica Aquarian Gaze Mascara, the Stellar Gaze offers more length and a slightly more intense looking lash. The Stellar Gaze looked better at the end of the day in terms of how my lashes appeared.
Compared to the Pacifica Dream Big Mascara, the Stellar Gaze offered more length. The Dream Big Mascara offered the most intense and dramatic looking lashes and provided the most volume.

The Stellar Gaze Mascara is my 2nd favorite mascara from Pacifica, more impressive than the Aquarian Gaze, but because my lashes need a little more help with thickness and volume, the Dream Big Mascara is still my favorite.

Aqua, Glycerin (Vegetable), Glyceryl Stearate Se, Jojoba Esters, Tapioca Starch, Stearic Acid (Vegetable), Copernicia Cerfera (Carnauba) Wax, Euphorbia Cerifera (Candelilla) Wax, Arabic / Acacia Gum, Acrylates, Crosspolymer, Potassium Cetyl Phosphate, Microcrystalline Cellulse (Plant), Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Panthenol (Vitamin B), Cellulose Gum, Gluconolactone, Macrocystis Pyifera (Brown Kelp) Extract, Hydrolyzed Oryza Sativa (Rice) Protein, Sodium Benzoate, Iron Oxides C1 77499.

     Overall

The Stellar Gaze Mascara offers exactly what it claims, the look of longer and stronger lashes. If you're someone who already has long thick lashes, I think you will enjoy this mascara. It will enhance the length of your lashes but will not smudge or flake throughout the day. If you have sparse or short looking lashes like I do, you may prefer something with more volume like the Pacifica Dream Big Mascara or the Lily Lolo Natural Mascara. I'd say, spend the $2 more and pick up the Dream Big Mascara, UNLESS you prefer a more subtle looking lash.
