Review: Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes

Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes

Now that summer has officially arrived, it's time to break out the self-tanner and bronzer! I recently received the Tarte Brazilliance Skin Rejuvenating Maracuja Self Tanning Face Towelettes, which as the name suggests, is geared towards bronzing up the face.

The set comes with 10 single face wipes and retails for $21 (0.045 fl oz each), available in-store and online at Ulta, Sephora, and the Tarte Website.

There are many self-tanning options available, so how does this measure up? Let's get in to the review!

The face towelettes come in a cute little purple box with gorgeous gold details. The towelettes are individually packaged in white packets, which is perfect for traveling or throwing in your purse.

The towelettes are like your generic cleansing towelettes, not too thin that they'll tear, soft, and rather small in size.

The towelettes have the typical self tanner smell, almost unavoidable with self tanning products. The self tanner that is in the towelettes is actually colorless when applying it to the skin, and the tan itself develops over the next 8 to 12 hours.

The color of the tanner is an orangey bronze. Not pure orange, but certainly on the warmer side of things. So if you're very fair, this color may be too intense for you. The color is relatively streak free, be careful bringing it down your chest area, it may be slightly streaky.

Let's start off with the good.

The application process is simple, you just wipe the towelette over the area you want to self tan, then just wash your hands afterwards to avoid self tanner on your hands.

The product is not colored, sticky, or thick, so no need to worry about transfer on your clothing.

The self tan lasts through 1 or 2 showers, depending how often you wash your face and how often you exfoliate.

While the towelettes are made for your face, you can certainly use this on any other parts of your body, but be sure to blend! I cannot emphasize that enough. Blending is vital when using wipes this small.

Now to the negative.

The towelettes are small in size, making it difficult to cover all areas that you need to cover. Also, because the tanner is color-less, you can't tell the areas that you've gone over with tanner with areas that you haven't. Prime example, I ended up with zebra stripes near my shoulders.

Overall, I would pass on these. The convenient towel applicators are more of a hassle to apply than necessary. The color-less aspect of the tanner makes it difficult to use, and the color is too orange for those with fair to light skin tones.

LEAVE IT!
