Review: NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade

NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade

It's safe to say brows are in this year. And we finally have a drugstore alternative to the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade! The NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade retails for $6.99 (0.18 oz) is available in-store and online at Ulta and the NYX Website.

So, is it a dupe for the Anastasia Dip Brow Pomade, how good is it? Let's get in to the review!

The NYX Tame & Frame Tinted Brow Pomade is available in 5 shades. As I have dark brown hair and a fair complexion, I picked up the shade "Brunette". The other shades include Blonde, Chocolate, Espresso, and Black.

Brunette is a medium-dark slightly warm toned brown. The only hair color that may have a hard time finding a color match would be red-heads.

The product comes in a plastic clear pot with a twist off top, very light and easy to travel with. Just make sure you squeeze the lid on tight or the product will dry out. It has no scent or fragrance.

The actual product is a soft gel like pomade, very similar to the consistency of a gel eyeliner. I found that when I dipped my angled eyeliner brush into this product, it picked up a lot of product, so use a very light hand and use a little bit at a time.

I recommend using an angled eyeliner brush to pick up the product.

To fill in my eyebrows, I typically started towards the middle of my brows near the arch, it deposited the most product there and I could use whatever was left on my brush to disperse the product to fill in and shape the rest of my brow.

I found that the formula of this pomade is very soft, I wish it were just a little firmer so I did not pick up so much product. But the color is opaque and does not skip, the consistency is smooth and doesn't crumble or flake off, and the color lasts all day without fading or smearing. Just don't touch your brows with your fingers, it is not waterproof so it will smear if you do.

If you're one of those people who have barely any eyebrows, or have poorly shaped brows and need to reshape them, then this is the product for you. If you already have full brows, do not like the look of a strong brow, or simply want a "natural" looking brow, you may not like this.

Is it a dupe for the Anastasia Dip Brow? Almost, but not quite. The NYX pomade is much more mousse like in texture and creamier, which when you're dealing with brows and don't want to have your brows look painted on, can be a problem. The Anastasia pomade has 11 shades to choose from to really get your perfect shade, and it is a little easier to glide on the skin.

Overall, if you're in the market for a product to give you the look of a strong brow, this is a great option to try! It is long-wearing, the colors are not too warm in tone, it's only $7, and it's paraben-free! While it is not as easy to apply as the Anastasia alternative, and there's a slight learning curve to using it, for those who love to make your brows look sharp and defined, you'll love it!
