REVIEW | Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in "Beetroot"

Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipstick in "Beetroot"

Bite Beauty's new line of Amuse Bouche Lipsticks have been on everyone's mind lately, mine being no exception. The Bite Beauty Amuse Bouche Lipsticks retail for $26 (0.15 oz) and are available online and in-store at Sephora.

**Note, the size seen and reviewed here, is the deluxe sample size from the Spring Fling Set.

This product is Cruelty-Free, but does contain carmine, making it not Vegan. The Amuse Bouche formula is 98% Natural.

First up is the shade, "Beetroot". Let's get in to the review!

Bite Beauty claims:

"Swipe on bold, creamy lip color with Bite Beauty’s Amuse Bouche. Created and crafted by hand, Bite’s small batch, low-heat process preserves a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients, vitamins, and omega oils that are essential for achieving healthy-looking lips. Made with 12 edible oils and triple milled pigments, this lipstick provides saturated lip color with weightless coverage and a citrus flavor made from fresh pressed fruit.

A collection of high-impact lipsticks in dimensional shades that have been handcrafted to deliver extreme moisture, soft texture, and creamy wear."

Packaging

The Bite Beauty Lipsticks come packaged in a hefty dark grey tube with the Bite Beauty logo at the base of the tube.

I absolutely adore their packaging. It's sturdy, doesn't cause my lipsticks to melt even in extreme heat, and simply---it's minimalistic, nothing extravagant or crazy, which I love.

Product

Beetroot is a dark bold berry color. The color is most similar to Too Faced's Melted Lipstick in "Melted Berry", Beetroot is darker and more red. Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme in "Aubergine" is more purple. Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme in "Brandy" is lighter, less intense, and more red.

These lipsticks feature a luminous creme finish. The finish does not dry down or lose it's sheen throughout the day.

The lipsticks do have a non-artificial, sweet fruity scent.

The consistency of this shade is very creamy, soft, and applies beautifully to the lips. The color is very opaque and does not drag or skip upon application. The texture of this shade is much better than the lighter shades of the Amuse Bouche line.

The lighter shades of the Amuse Bouche formula tend to be less opaque, and bits of product tend to gather up on the lips throughout the day. I did not experience any bits of product building up throughout the day, and the color remained even opaque throughout the day.

Performance

For a product that claims to be hydrating, creamy, and provide moisture, I was worried about bleeding and transfer outside the lip line.

Ultimately, there was a tiny bit of bleeding from this shade. Not enough to cause me concern, but it was visible. If you know your lips are prone to bleeding, or you have deep wrinkles around your mouth, I would suggest applying a lip liner first, then applying the lipstick on top.

The longevity of this shade is it's best aspect! After 8 hours, with moderate eating and drinking and no touch-ups, it still looked perfect! There was noticeably less shine, but there was no patchiness or streaking.

Overall

Beetroot is highly pigmented, applies easily to the lips, and has amazing wear time! The only downside to this shade is that the color does bleed slightly, and the color is not transfer proof, but it does not claim to be. This is not for someone who wants a matte looking lip or no budge formula. If you're looking for a moisturizing lipstick that is also highly pigmented and will last all day, this shade is going to be your perfect berry shade for the Fall!
