REVIEW | Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner in "Retrograde"
Urban Decay Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner |
Urban Decay launched several new products for Fall 2016, including their Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner. The liners retail for $22 (0.07 oz), and are available in-store and online at Ulta, Sephora, and the Urban Decay Website.
There are 20 shades in the range. I have the shade, "Retrograde". This product is Cruelty-Free, but may contain carmine, so it is not vegan.
**Note, not all shades may contain carmine, so some shades may be vegan.

Packaging
The eyeliner comes in a sturdy plastic tube with a brush tip applicator. The cap of the tube matches the color of the eyeliner.
I do wish the applicator was a bit stiffer and more tapered on the end. I found it difficult to control the amount of product, and achieve a crisp defined line for winged liner.
I much prefer a brush tip pen style than the dip well-style eyeliners; I get a more accurate and precise line. The Physicians Formula Eye Booster Liquid Liner is forever a favorite. I need a green beauty brand to make a liquid eyeliner pen!

Urban Decay claims:
Introducing Razor Sharp Water-Resistant Longwear Liquid Eyeliner by Urban Decay, an intensely pigmented liquid liner that lasts all day and comes in an array of shades---from lacquered creams to metallic shimmers.
This water-resistant formula dries down quickly, provides long-lasting wear, and will not smudge. Its fine-tipped brush applicator lets you lay down sharp liquid lines so you can draw them on super thin or thick and bold, or even spot-reapply with ease. Then simply remove it with makeup remover.
A liquid eyeliner that lays down ultra-sharp lines that won't budge.

Product
"Retrograde" is a deep blue toned purple with fine blue, purple, and pink glitter. The color of the box it comes in is a little deceiving. I expected a bright bold purple---not a deep purple with blue shift. But regardless, I love the color. It adds a great alternative than the standard black.
This color will be very flattering for those with green eyes!
The actual formula of this shade is less than desirable. I had to build up the color with several swipes to achieve a completely opaque line. However, the consistency is not thick, chunky, or clumpy, which I greatly appreciate.

Performance
Urban Decay claims the formula is water-resistant, long-lasting wear, and will not smudge. I completely agree. I had no problems with the liner smudging or moving throughout the day. Once it was on, it stayed put until I removed it with coconut oil.
I do not recommend trying to remove this with a makeup remover wipe, you'll rub your eyelids raw trying to get it off.
Despite the glitter in the formula, the glitter did not flake off or transfer to my face.

Overall
The formula of the Razor Sharp Liquid Eyeliners is fantastic. It is very long-wearing, smudge and transfer proof, and they come in a very diverse color selection. "Retrograde" is a gorgeous deep purple-blue that is going to be gorgeous for Fall! The only negative was the slightly streaky formula. And personally, I'm not a fan of the dip well-style liquid eyeliners, it's difficult to achieve a sharp line. If you're in the market for unique and fun colors, definitely give these a shot!
