REVIEW | Johnny Concert Pro Amplified Eyeshadow Refill in "Studs + Spikes"

     Johnny Concert Claims

     Packaging     

The eyeshadow refills do not come with outer packaging, so they're meant to be stored in a refillable palette (z-palette, MAC palette, etc). As a minimalist, I enjoy the refill style, and I appreciate using less plastic.

A plastic compact version is available for $13. 

     Product     

The Amplified Eyeshadows are a pressed powder formula. They do not have any discernible scent or fragrance.

"Studs + Spikes" is a dark grey with grey glitter. The color is very similar to Red Apple Lipstick "Raven" but lighter and chunkier glitter. (The Johnny Concert Formula is 100x better.)

     Performance     

This shade felt a little crumbly to the touch but still had a soft texture and consistency like "Coffee or Die". When I applied the color with a stiff flat shadow brush, I did have some fallout with the glitter in this shade. 

Despite the minor fallout, the shade applied easily to the eyes without becoming patchy or uneven, and maintained its color when blended out and applied with other shadows. 

Throughout the day the glitter stayed in place and did not transfer down onto my face. When worn with a primer (which is a must for me), the shadow did not crease or fade until after 8 hours. 

I highly recommend applying this eyeshadow BEFORE applying your face products, otherwise expect there to be some shimmer or glitter below your eyes.

     Overall     

"Studs + Spikes" is a beautiful shade for dramatic or daytime smokey eyes, and the glitter adds a touch of glam. While the pigmentation and blendability is excellent, the formula is a bit crumbly and has a bit of fallout with the glitter. As long as you're ok with a little fallout, this shadow wears perfectly throughout the day without any fallout or creasing. If you're in the market for dark grey with a little sparkle and shine, and clean ingredients, you will love "Studs + Spikes".
