Review: OPI Nail Polish in "Embrace The Gray"

Image
OPI recently released the Fifty Shades of Grey Collection for 2015 ! I am absolutely obsessed with the book series and cannot wait to see the film, so I knew I had to pick up the collection! Each bottle within this collection is the standard 0.5 fl ounces and retails for $9.50 at Ulta , and around $9 at select salons and retailers that carry OPI. I picked up three of the matte gray shades as you will see in the coming swatches and reviews. The first one I shall be reviewing and swatching for you guys is "Embrace The Gray". Which I'm sort of disappointed with the name, why not "Embrace The Grey", just my thought. But let's get into the review!

FROZEN Nail Tutorial

Image
I wanted to do a fun nail look for you guys for the winter, somewhat FROZEN inspired! I did a basic ombre gradient technique in cool blue tones with a glitter accent. This nail tutorial is super easy and you do not have to be neat with it!  So let's get started! What you'll Need: Top Coat Base Coat Light-Medium Blue Nail Polish Light Blue-Green Nail Polish White Nail Polish Glitter Top Coat  STEP 1:   Paint a base coat onto your nails to protect your nails against staining and pealing. I used the Wet n Wild Base Coat. STEP 2:  Start at the base of you nail and paint one coat of the darkest color, in this case, Sinful Color Shine in " Alfresco ", a periwinkle blue, to your nails. Don't worry about being neat when applying these colors to your nails, the messier the better, we don't want straight lines dividing the colors. STEP 3:  Paint the middle shade onto the center of your nails and blending it into the...

Beauty Products I Regret Buying!

Image
I've recently had some bad luck with eyeshadows, whether the color was wrong or the formula I didn't care for. I have purchased many items that I regretted and thus returned, so here are some products I have accumulated over the years that I still have and regret purchasing! Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette Every raves about the quality of Urban Decay eyeshadows, and being that I love cool toned shadows, I thought I would love this palette. But sadly, all of the mid toned shades tend to look the same on my eyes and the they have some major fall out, which is a no no for me. For $52 I could have purchased 5 MAC eyeshadows that I love instead. Save your money, go for a different palette from a different brand.  MAC Eyeshadow in "Amber Lights" I love MAC eyeshadows. My draw back here is the color. The warm copper color doesn't look good on my skin tone. I also thought it would pop with a bit more color intensity than it does, even with a b...

Review: OPI "Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm?" + SWATCHES

Image
OPI recently launched their Nordic Collection for Fall/Winter 2014. And in the collection is this little beauty, OPI "Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm?" . This collection is now available at Ulta, and other select retailers that carry OPI. Each bottle retails for $9.50 at Ulta , which is where I picked mine up. "Do You Have This Color In Stock-holm?" is a beautiful deep blue-purple . I would describe the color as a dark royal blue with a touch of dark purple. Don't let the color in the bottle fool you, the actual color is much darker on the nails and more blue than it appears. You'll see in the pictures below the blue is much more prominent. For some reason the color in the pictures and in the bottle is showing up much more blue than it actually is. In person it's definitely more purple. The formula is perfect , not too thick or thin. One coat is too thin, but not streaky. Two coats will provide total opaque color and intensity...

OPI "Thanks a Windmillion" Dupe

Image
I recently came across a dupe in my nail polish collection for OPI's "Thanks A Windmillion" polish that came out with the 2012 Holland Collection. The dupe I came across is the Rimmel 60 Seconds Nail Polish in "Sage All The Rage" . This shade can best be described as a muted mid toned sage green, as the name suggests. It leans slightly cooler in tone. This is available year round in the permanent collection and retails for $1.50 , what a steal! OPI's "Thanks A Windmillion" is a muted mid-toned sea foam green with a hint of blue in it. The color is more blue and just a little darker than "Sage All The Rage", but they are both a muted color and not overly bright. A full review for OPI "Thanks A Windmillion" can be found HERE . Here's a comparison of the two. (They look almost identical on the nail!) (Left) Rimmel London "Sage All The Rage", (Right) OPI "Thanks A Windmillion" So if you can...

Review: OPI "German-icure" + Swatches + Dupe

Image
I recently picked up OPI's "German-icure" from the Fall 2012 Germany Collection at Ulta on clearance for 99 cents, it rang up at 50% off its $1.97 price tag! The full name of this polish is "German-icure by OPI" but for convenience I'll just call it "German-icure". Here is a quick review and comparison of this polish for you guys! The packaging is the standard 0.50 fl oz glass bottle that OPI uses. While I did find mine on clearance at Ulta, and this collection did come out 2 years ago, it's possible to still find it at salons or other places OPI is old. "German-icure by OPI" OPI "German-icure" is a dark burgundy brown with a metallic finish . It has a very fine shimmer to the polish that gives it the metallic finish. This color is absolutely stunning in for the Fall, or year round if you love dark polishes. The finish is very shiny and reflects the light perfectly to enhance the metallic finish. "German-...

Reverse French Manicure Tutorial!

Image
Here is a quick and easy nail tutorial for you guys! This is a reverse french manicure tip that uses OPI's "Did You Ear' About Van Gogh?"(Review HERE ) and Wet n Wild's "Black Creme". Step 1: Place a base coat onto your nails to prevent staining. I used the OPI 3-in-1 Strengthener. Step 2: Paint 2 coats of the OPI "Did You Ear' About Van Gogh?", or any other nude color that you prefer, onto each nail, taking time between each coat to let it dry. Step 3: Once the OPI polish is dry, go in with the Wet n Wild "Black Creme", or any black nail polish, and paint just the tips of your finger nails. One coat is plenty. Step 4: Once the black nail polish on your finger nail tips is dry, not tacky, go in with your top coat to seal in the color and prevent chipping. Once again I used the OPI 3-in-1 Strengthener. (Left) OPI "Did You 'Ear About Van Gogh?", (Right) Wet n Wild "Black Creme" And TA DA...
